Text Box: Leslie Aspire is seeking mentors for the 2010 Scholars. These students will be named in May 2010 and will be hoping to be assigned a mentor.
Being a mentor is an incredibly rewarding experience. One hour a week makes all the difference to these students. No special skills or knowledge are needed.
The Aspire Program has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, who interview the children and adults, then match them based on the interviews. Adults and children meet at Leslie Middle School before or after school each week for one on one time. Occasionally, the pairs will get together with other matches for some games or fun activities, instead of one on one.
Please consider giving your time to help these young people become the success we know they can.

February 2010

Text Box: A big thank you to everyone who helped with Family Fun Night January 15. It was a huge success.

We had about 150 people in attendance and most stayed the whole time. With bingo, face painting, DDR, board games, a cakewalk, and free throw contest, there was something for everyone. The families who came were excited to participate and happy with the admission price.

We are already planning to make this an annual event, so keep your calendars clear next January; you won’t want to miss it!
Text Box: Share what you know. Become a mentor.
It doesn't take special skills to become a mentor - just a willingness to listen, offer encouragement, and share what you've learned about life. Aspire Scholars are looking for mentors! Contact Laura Fenger at Leslie Middle School to join.
