The special meeting of the Board of CALL MEETING
Education of the Leslie Public Schools,
Ingham and Jackson Counties, Michigan,
was called to order by President
Sherrell at 6:00 p.m.

COMMENTS AND/CONCERNS OF CITIZENS PRESENT:
None.
BOARD DISCUSSION AND/OR ACTION:
Moved by T. Carroll, supported by E. Isham
that the Board of Education of Leslie Public
Schools moves to appoint Eric D. Delaporte,
of Thrun Law Firm, P.C., to serve as hearing
officer for the student expulsion hearings
conducted on April 20, 2009 and to make
procedural and evidentiary rulings on behalf
of the Board of Education. Vote: ayes 7,
nays 0, absent 0. Motion carried.
Moved by W. Myers, supported by T. Carroll CLOSED
to enter closed session at 6:04 p.m., at the SESSION
request of the parents to protect the family’s
right to privacy as required by Federal Law to
hear and discuss evidence related to the recommended
expulsion of a Leslie High School student for
violation of the Code of Conduct, Board Policy
#8325 and the Michigan School Code Section 380.1310.
Vote: ayes 7, nays 0, absent 0. Motion carried.

The Board entered Closed Session at 6:05 p.m.
Moved by W. Myers, supported by A. Bigg OPEN
that the Board of Education re-enter SESSION
regular session at 7:44 p.m. Vote: ayes 7,
nays 0, absent 0. Motion carried.
Moved by W. Myers, supported by M. Crowl LESLIE HIGH
that the Board of Education approve the SCHOOL STUDENT
Resolution for Student Discipline 2008-09.9
Recommendation with said document EXPULSION
permanently filed with these minutes.
Vote: ayes 7, nays 0, absent 0.
Motion carried.
President Sherrell adjourned the meeting at 7:48 p.m. ADJOURNMENT
