The special meeting of the Board of                         CALL MEETING

Education of the Leslie Public Schools,

Ingham and Jackson Counties, Michigan,

was called to order by President Tim

Carroll at 6:00 p.m.

 

Members present:    Tim Carroll

Mary Crowl

Adrienne Bigg

                    John Wayne Stewart                

Tom Davis

                   

Members absent:     Eric Isham

                    Brad Ries

Administrator(s)

present:            Corey Netzley, Superintendent

Pledge of Allegiance given.

 

COMMENTS AND/CONCERNS OF CITIZENS PRESENT:

None.

 

BOARD DISCUSSION AND/OR ACTION:

Moved by M. Crowl, supported by A. Bigg                     CLOSED SESSION

to enter closed session at 6:01 p.m.,

at the request of the parent to protect

the right to privacy as required by

Federal Law for a discipline hearing. 

Vote: ayes 5, nays 0, absent 2 (E. Isham,

B. Ries). Motion carried.

 

The Board entered Closed Session at 6:01 p.m.

 

Moved by T. Davis, supported by J. W. Stewart                    OPEN SESSION

that the Board of Education re-enter

regular session at 7:14 p.m.  Vote: ayes 5,

nays 0, absent 2 (E. Isham, B. Ries). Motion

Moved by M. Crowl, supported by A. Bigg                     STUDENT

that Student 2009-2010.4 be suspended for                   2009-10.4

the rest of the school year and placed in

the Seat Time Waiver program with readmission

to Leslie Public Schools to commence at

the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year

under a behavior contract.  Vote: ayes 5,

nays 0, absent 2 (E. Isham, B. Ries). Motion

carried.

 

Discussion ensued regarding the existing                         DISCIPLINE

Board policies and regulations regarding                         PROCEDURE

student discipline procedures.  Board                       DISCUSSION

direction that no changes be made to

discipline procedures as currently written

and will leave it to the discretion of the

principal in regard to the level of

contract violation.

 

Information regarding a student’s right to                  FERPA/

privacy under FERPA laws was discussed.                     INFORMATIONAL
