Strategic Goals Adopted August 11, 2008 Student Achievement Goal 1: Student achievement will exceed state standards! Objectives: Update all curriculum maps. Implement writing strategies at all levels. Align the curriculum to state Grade-level Content Expectations. Develop and implement academic policies which support student achievement improvement. Provide opportunities to improve study skills and practice MEAP/MME (Michigan Educational Assessment Program/Michigan Merit Exam)-like testing. Finance Goal 2: Ensure financial stability. Objectives: Support all district and regional efforts to raise state funding for K-12. education (this is not just a staff role but would no doubt include Board’s role). Continue involvement in School Equity Caucus. Allocate resources that support achievement of district strategic goals. Maintain enrollment levels to ensure funding stability. Pass Headlee Override in November 2008. Set fund balance minimum and develop plan for growth. Facilities Goal 3: Ensure facilities, equipment and technology allow for a productive learning environment. Objectives Maintain a maintenance plan. Maintain a technology plan which ensures necessary technology upgrades. Prioritization of projects. Communication Goal 4: Establish and maintain effective communications. Objectives: Develop a plan that ensures effective strategies to communicate with internal staff, with parents and with community members. Establish an inviting environment for parents at all levels. Cultivate parent involvement. Enhance collaboration among staff and between buildings. Goal 5: Achieve educational excellence and community pride with staff, students and parents. Objectives: Professional learning communities. Alignment and coherence of curriculum. Relevant transition experiences between schools. Develop and implement expectations for student success. Develop and implement an effective performance system that focuses on development and success. |
