Woodworth PTO

Woodworth PTO Mission Statement
(January 2008)

The Woodworth PTO is a nonprofit parent teacher organization whose membership includes all parents, legal guardians and staff at Woodworth Elementary School.

The PTO's mission is to establish a close relationship between home and school by advancing the opportunity for all parents to become involved in the Woodworth Elementary community.

The PTO sponsors assistance to teachers and other staff members, raises funds for supplemental educational materials and experiences, supports school and family social interaction, and provides a non-biased forum for sharing information on issues that impact our children.

It is our belief that the team effort of a parent teacher organization offers the best possible learning environment for our children.

2007-08 Accomplishments:

-The first ever Woodworth PTO newsletter was distributed last month for all elementary students to take home to their families. The monthly newsletter will serve as another communication to parents about what the PTO is doing for Woodworth's students, staff, and families.

-The 2008 Woodworth PTO Carnival was held April 25 and was a huge success! The weather cooperated nicely as the event was a fun-filled activity for many community families. The event also profited over $2,500. Thanks a million to all of the volunteers who made the evening go so smoothly! Rounding up almost 100 volunteers is no easy task, but when everyone can pitch in just a little, it seems to work out! There are pictures from the carnival below.

-The Woodworth PTO 07-08 purchased a new washer and dryer for our school. This will hopefully help our staff as they have lots of wet socks, gloves, and pants this time of year! Thank you Megan Casper for taking on this project and seeing it through!

-The Woodworth PTO also purchased new pants, socks, and underwear in several sizes for the office to have on hand in case of accidents with our children. This way, children will be sent home in clean, dry clothing while their clothes are washed at school. When the items are returned, the children will receive their original clothing back.
