Welcome to Woodworth Elementary – Home of the Blackhawks!

Dear Woodworth Families,

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to Woodworth Elementary! Our school is a place where students grow academically, socially, and emotionally in a nurturing and supportive environment. With approximately 400 students from kindergarten through fourth grade, we take pride in fostering a strong sense of community and belonging for all.

At Woodworth, we are committed to both academic excellence and the social-emotional well-being of our students. Our dedicated educators bring passion and expertise to their classrooms, ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive. Our teachers are highly trained in the Science of Reading, utilizing the Orton-Gillingham approach and LETRS to provide research-based, structured literacy instruction in our whole classroom setting and our small group interventions. This foundation ensures that all students develop strong reading skills, setting them up for lifelong success.

Beyond academics, we emphasize the importance of character, resilience, and empathy.  We utilize Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), which helps create a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment by clearly teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors. Through our use of PBIS, we see improvements in student behavior and increased academic engagement. Through our social-emotional learning focus, we help students build the confidence and skills they need to navigate the world with kindness and determination.  

I am honored to lead such a dedicated and compassionate team of educators, and I look forward to partnering with you—our families—to make this a successful and fulfilling year for every student.
